Oldham County Library Offers Lots Of Hidden Treasures

When I was a little girl I used to walk with my Mom to the neighborhood library just a few blocks from our home.  I remember how I loved this magical place, where books took me on many an adventure and I could get lost for hours in exotic lands far away from Louisville, Kentucky .

I still like to visit the library.  Living now in Oldham County, Kentucky (just north of Louisville), the smell of books take me right back to the little girl in me, and that makes me smile.

Sure, you no longer have to go to the library to get quick and easy access to books.  Huge bookstores are everywhere, and you can shop online for just about any book imaginable.  So why are our libraries still thriving?  The answer is:

It’s So Much More Than Books

The library still offers a nice, quiet place to find a great book and sit and read.  It is still an invaluable resource for doing research.  But it is also a happening place, with a calendar jam packed with interesting, informative and fun things to do.  Our libraries offer:

  • Free Computer Classes
  • Book Club Kits
  • Downloadable Media from “Overdrive” Program
  • “Story Time”, “Toddler Time”, “Tween Scene” and “Afterschool Adventures” in the Children’s Library
  • Geneology Workshops

… and so much more.  There is a complete list of activities and a calendar on their website.

There Are Three Locations:

The LaGrange Branch (Main Library)  is located at  308 Yager Lane, LaGrange, KY  40031

So throw out any old images of a library being boring.  It’s a happening place to be, and there is a whole universe of new adventures waiting for you.
