I had the privilege of going to the 2015 Arts on the Green in LaGrange, Kentucky on Sunday, June 7. I had the option to go Saturday but chose to go Sunday so I could go with my wonderful sister, who I adore! It was great seeing several other people I know while I was there.
There are so many beautiful pieces of original artwork, jewelry, homemade soaps, photography, paintings, and much more – I had a hard time deciding where to spend my money but founds some great gifts that I can’t wait to give out!
Barbara Manley, owner of Manley Signs and Awards in LaGrange, was given the honor of being one of the judges. It meant a lot to Barbara to be chosen because she calls “Arts on the Green” one of the finest juried art shows around. (And I agree!)
The “Best in Show” went to a fabulous fiber artist, Sharon Milliner, for a felted wool on silk vest. “The painstaking, complex process to create the piece is so impressive and deserving of ‘Best in Show’,” Barbara added. “The overall quality of the art made it very difficult for the judges as there were so many deserving artists.”
The newly reconstructed Courthouse Lawn in Historic Downtown LaGrange made the setting even better this year since it provided new sidewalks, landscaping, and a few more places to rest. It was a very hot day (94 degrees) but with lots of food trucks available, along with all the ‘goodies’ to purchase, it was all worthwhile!
